"To look is to learn if you listen carefully"
P. Arnoldi
The Siena School’s fine arts courses push our students well beyond the mere acquisition a specific skill, be it Photography, Creative Writing, Bookbinding or Drawing. They are an exercise in awareness. The students are encouraged to explore and relate to their new surroundings, to the experiences and feelings they have here in this fascinatingly intricate and beautiful city, its people, culture, history and traditions. They are asked to reflect on their lives so far, on their emotions and reactions. We encourage them to look harder at themselves, at who they are, to find the inspiration to communicate creatively and originally through different artistic media. Students are asked to work on their own individual research following the thread of the themes the School selects every year.
Our art courses offer experience, therefore education in the fullest sense. Our students discover a new part of the world in depth and when they return home, they view that world, too, with new eyes.
Photographers, artists, and performers from all over the world are invited to the Siena School to contribute to our art courses, through experimental, theoretical and technical workshops, providing stimulating and enriching input.
